FAQs

Q - WHY SHOULD I TRUST YOU?

Our business has been designed to help you feel in control, with each aspect being demonstrably for your benefit, not ours.

Key examples:

FOCUS ON SIMPLICITY - You reduce your costs and increase your understanding

INNOVATIVE CHARGING STRUCTURE - You pay for what you value

LOGICAL INVESTMENT APPROACH - You invest based on evidence, not emotion

INDEPENDENT ADVICE - Your adviser is not pressured to sell in-house products

WELL QUALIFIED – Your adviser will have top level qualifications

Trust is personal, and builds over time. You will almost certainly want to meet us in person before becoming a client. We are happy to organise this at no cost to you.

ARE YOU INDEPENDENT?

Q - ARE YOU INDEPENDENT?

Yes. We recommend solutions from across the whole marketplace, to give you the peace of mind that the advice you receive is 100% impartial, always in your best interest, with no hidden agenda.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS

Q - WHAT QUALIFICATIONS WILL MY ADVISER HAVE ABOVE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS?

Your adviser will hold at least one of the Chartered Financial Planner and Certified Financial PlannerTM Professional accreditations, putting them amongst the best qualified advisers in the UK.

WHATS YOUR INVESTMENT PHILOSOPHY

Q - WHAT'S YOUR INVESTMENT PHILOSOPHY?

Our investment beliefs are built on common sense, academic evidence and practical experience.

We've distilled this into seven core beliefs:

SIMPLICITY - Keep your finances straightforward and advice costs down

HONESTY - Don’t attempt to predict the future or dazzle you with overly complex solutions

DIVERSIFICATION - Select the right risk/reward profile for your financial and emotional needs

STRUCTURE - Invest widely to reduce country, industry and stock-specific risk

KEEP COSTS DOWN - Use low-cost funds so that you keep more of your returns

TAX EFFICIENCY - Save tax on your returns where it is legal, sensible and cost effective

to do so

NO CHANGE FOR CHANGE'S SAKE - Keep your existing investments if they are suitable

Q - HOW DO YOUR FEES WORK?

Percentage based fees break the link between the cost of a service and the value you derive from it. We believe that is wrong, so we have created an innovative solution that puts you back in control.

Your fee will be calculated with reference to both advice complexity and service intensity. It will reflect the type of work we undertake and how long it takes to complete, rather than the value of your investments.

Our structure best suits people who embrace the power of simplicity. Benefits can be particularly pronounced for those with larger portfolios.

HOW DO YOU FEES WORK?

Q - WHERE ARE YOU BASED?

Our team works remotely, using best-in-breed technology to stay connected. In addition, we use meeting rooms in a serviced office in 20 Old Bailey, so we know we have a central, secure, comfortable place to hold client meetings.

This means that you don’t have to foot the bill for a permanent, expensive City office and we don’t waste precious time, energy and money on an unnecessary daily commute.

This approach allows us to be very flexible around physical meeting locations – we can visit you at your home or office, or can book meeting rooms at 20 Old Bailey or in any number of alternative locations in Central London that are convenient for you.

WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
HOW OFTEN DO YOU REVIEW

Q - HOW OFTEN DO YOU REVIEW YOUR CLIENTS' FINANCES?

Financial Planning is an ongoing process rather than a one-off exercise. The economy changes, rules and regulations change, the world changes. Most importantly, you change.

We’ll check in with you at least once a quarter and will hold a formal review with you once a year, in which we’ll measure progress and set an action plan for the following 12 months.

That way, you will be confident that everything’s in hand and under control.

DO YOU SPECIALISE

Q - DO YOU SPECIALISE IN A CERTAIN TYPE OF CLIENT?

Our service best suits collaborative and inquisitive people who are intent on maximising life's opportunities.

It is for people who want an ongoing relationship rather than “one-off” advice and who would value a trusted sounding board to help them with decisions across their whole wealth rather than for us to advise them on isolated pockets of their finances.

We have experience of looking after people from a wide range of working backgrounds and life stages.

HOW AM I PROTECTED?

Q - HOW AM I PROTECTED IF THINGS GO WRONG?

Further information on the following areas can be found via the link below:

  • Our Regulator

  • Our Complaints Procedure

  • Financial Ombudsman Service

  • Financial Services Compensation Scheme

  • Professional Indemnity Insurance

In addition, we do not recommend in-house products which would tie you in.  There are no lock-ins or penalties. If you would like to cease to be a client, we will expedite this with the minimum of fuss.

We do not hold client money. All of your investments will be made directly with the recommended financial institution rather than passing through our bank account.

Q - WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR JOB?

We love helping people and financial planning has the power to change people’s lives in such a profound and interesting way.

People who seek professional financial planning advice are generally collaborative, energetic and engaging individuals. They’re people who want more from an adviser than just an investment portfolio or a bit of pension advice and it can be hugely rewarding to act as a trusted sounding board for them, to be part of their circle of trust.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE?

The value of your investments can go down as well as up, so you could get back less

than you invested.

Tax and Estate planning is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
